EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT : DEBATE ON THE FUTURE OF EUROPE TO OPEN PLENARY SESSION.

The European Parliament's plenary session in Brussels on 29 and 30 November will be marked by a debate on the future of Europe with Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, the adoption of Parliament's final reports on the accession to the EU of Romania and Bulgaria, and the examination of ten reports linked to the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP7).

MEPs launched a series of discussions with EU leaders on 31 May. The first meeting provided them with opportunity to quiz Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt (see Europolitics 3097).
