Nov. 29--Erick Dampier is the Mavericks' whipping boy. That's the way it has been since he arrived from Golden State three seasons ago with a $73 million contract. It's easy to be the whipping boy on a 50-win team -- maybe 60 wins -- that has Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, Josh Howard and Jerry Stackhouse on the roster. Then again, any 7-footer who doesn't produce like Tim Duncan or Shaq is always going to draw criticism because the game is supposed to be easy for them.
