Nov. 29--Americans obviously are champions of multitasking. How else can they get their work done AND shop online simultaneously? While Cyber Monday may be nothing more than a marketing gimmick created by the National Retail Federation, evidence continues to mount that American workers are devoting much of their work day to surfing the Web. Consider this: The staffing firm Spherion Corp. cited a report Tuesday that online retail sites received 2 million visits PER MINUTE from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Cyber Monday. There's more: comScore Networks, an Internet market research company, forecast that one-day Cyber Monday sales would hit $599 ...
