Scratch R.L. Hudson & Co. from the list of U.S. companies that primarily make their products overseas.
The custom molded rubber and plastic goods designer and marketer will move into manufacturing in the U.S. with the purchase of Grand River Rubber & Plastics Co. The deal is expected to close on or before Jan. 31.
R.L. Hudson will gain a solid production foundation in the U.S. and an opportunity to grow off that base with the purchase, according to Rick Hudson, founder, president and CEO of the company. Grand River makes lathe-cut seals, extruded rubber goods and drive belts at its 100,000-sq.-ft. plant in Ashtabula, Ohio.
