In 2002 Navy stumbled into its annual showdown with Army, losers of 10 consecutive games under first-year coach Paul Johnson.

Then quarterback Craig Candeto ran for six touchdowns in a 58-12 rout and everything changed. The Midshipmen have won 34 of 48 games since and will play in their fourth straight bowl game next month.

"What it did was give us some momentum for the offseason and for the next season for guys to build on," Johnson said. "It was a big win. Any time you beat Army here it is a big weekend. It was good ending to a long season."
