IRVINE, Calif.--Jun. 25--Taco Bell Corp. said Friday it will keep its corporate headquarters, $50 million payroll and 1,000 employees in Orange County, a decision hailed by government and business leaders as evidence that California's perceived anti-business reputation is diminishing.
In staying put, the nation's largest Mexican fast-food chain turned down the cheaper confines of Texas, North Carolina and Georgia - three states that wooed the company with multi-million-dollar tax and economic-incentive packages.
In the end, the high costs of moving and building a new headquarters proved too great.
