Dec. 1--With an eye toward booking more business at the Rhode Island Convention Center, the board overseeing the state-owned complex voted this week to spend $825,000 to build new meeting rooms in the center's lobby.

It is the first time that new meeting space has been added to the convention center since it was built in 1993.

The 3,500 square feet of meeting space, planned for the first floor of the convention center in the area facing Sabin Street, will be able to be split into two rooms. It will be marketed as a space for corporate meetings, weddings, and parties before or after events at the Dunkin' Donuts Center ...
