Around the nation, religious educators, publishers and others are preparing for the long-awaited English-language version of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
It is scheduled for distribution June 22 after a two-year delay during which the inclusive language of English drafts was returned to all-male pronouns and other language closer to the original French version.
The 816-page catechism is universal, not national nor local, and is designed as a reference tool for bishops, publishers and religious education specialists rather than as a handbook for popular use. Sixteen copublishers are collaborating with the U.S. Catholic Conference in producing an ...
