Dec. 3--FORT WALTON BEACH -- Fort Walton Beach didn't play its prettiest basketball in the second half, but fortunately the Vikings didn't need to either.
The Vikings stormed out of the gates to a huge lead early, then played tough enough in the end to beat rival Niceville 55-35 on Saturday in a District 1-5A matchup.
"I thought we played very well for the first quarter and a half," Fort Walton Beach coach Holly McDaniel said. "We got in some foul trouble and that hurt us. Luckily we had a big enough lead that our mistakes didn't hurt us a lot."
