Dec. 4--TOKYO -- The regional telephone units of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. said Monday they will cut charges for calls from their fixed-line phone and Internet protocol telephony services to mobile phones, effective Jan. 1.
NTT East Corp. will lower its charges by 1.05 to 3.675 yen per minute to 16.8 to 18.375 yen.
NTT West Corp. will carry out a uniform cut of 1.05 yen per minute, bringing its rates to 16.8 to 21 yen.
Charges for calls involving mobile phones are usually made by cellphone operators. In the case of calls from fixed-line phones, however, NTT East and NTT issue bills if users dial 0036 and 0039, ...
