BERTIE COUNTY
OUTSTANDING SCIENCE TEACHER: Bruce Boller has been named District 1 Outstanding Science Teacher by the North Carolina Science Teachers Association. The district includes 15 counties in northeastern North Carolina.
The award acknowledges excellence in teaching science and leadership in the school science department.
Boller has been at Bertie High School since 1998 teaching AP biology, biology and biotechnology. He has also been recognized state wide by North Carolina State University for mentoring students doing environmental research in Bennett's Millpond Research Project.
