Dec. 6--Whoever wrote Julia Derk "is a pleasure to have in class, but talks way too much," on her elementary school report card never had the pleasure of competing against the Greeley West junior in a swimming meet. If they had, her teachers would have soon realized her gift of gab not only makes her an ideal teammate, but a fun-loving opponent as well. In helping Greeley West to a 106-77 victory Tuesday over rival Greeley Central at the Greeley Recreation Center, Derk not only won the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard individual medley, and was a part of the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard free relay winning teams, she won over her ...
