TODAY we celebrate International Civil Aviation Day to generate and reinforce worldwide awareness of the importance of international civil aviation in the social and economic development of states, and the role of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in promoting the safety, efficiency and regularity of international air transport.
International Civil Aviation Day was declared in 1994 by the ICAO, to mark the 50th anniversary of this organization which was created on December 7, 1944.
