Dec. 6--Neighbors of Belmont Park, concerned about the security of students in a nearby elementary school yard, are fighting a proposal to bring an open-air flea market to the racetrack. Leaders of the Floral Park-Bellerose school district and parent-teacher association, and the Village of Floral Park, say the bazaar would be too close to the Floral Park-Bellerose Elementary school yard. The racetrack property is 8 feet away from a play area and 26 feet from a baseball field, school officials said.
