Dec. 3--A multinational corporation that makes sterile medical gauze and sponges is consolidating in New London instead of relocating out of state, thanks to a $1 million state financing package and five years of city tax abatements.
The Carwild Corp., based in Old Mystic and an affiliate, the First Aid Bandage Co., are consolidating 37 office and production workers at the new 4-acre site on State Pier Road. The deal also enables 300 employees in a third related company, Medsorb Dominicana, to stay in the Dominican Republic, where most of the manufacturing is done.
