Dec. 8--It was a chilly December night, and Tom Hicks was about to go from being a hockey team owner to a good hockey team owner. Actually, Hicks was still in the process of finalizing the purchase of the Stars from cash-strapped Norm Green. He admits now that not only was he unsure whom they were giving up in the trade, he didn't really know whom they were getting. "But [Jim] Lites and [Bob] Gainey said this was a player we had to have," Hicks said Thursday.
