My September column, "These Women Will Not Be Silenced," (CNT Sept. 26,) was written in the midst of the trial of Charles Sylvestre, a former Roman Catholic priest charged with sexually assaulting 47 young girls in the Diocese of London over a period of four decades.
Last month, Sylvestre was sentenced to three years in a federal penitentiary. This amounts to a mere 23 days per victim. Of course, some of the little girls abused by Sylvestre were assaulted repeatedly, some two, three or more times per week over periods of several years. It is likely Sylvestre will serve less than one day per incident of exploitation of innocent children. Where is the "justice" in ...
