Presenting the Green Paper on the Galileo global satellite navigation system adopted on 8 December by the European Commission to the press (see Europolitics 3205), Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot reviewed the candidates vying to play host to the headquarters of the network's surveillance authority. Eleven names have been submitted to the Commission: Athens, Barcelona, Brussels, Cardiff, Valetta, Ljubljana, Munich, Nordwijk, Prague, Rome and Strasbourg. The commissioner indicated that the issue will be discussed at the Council of EU Transport Ministers on 12 December.
