September's outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 from fresh spinach traced back to Natural Selection Foods of San Juan Bautista, Calif. not only killed three people and sickened almost 200 others, it may have turned some shoppers off from fresh spinach permanently and caused others to question the safety of organic products.
