Dec. 9--An Amtrak official encouraged state and local leaders Friday to consider extending the Heartland Flyer from Oklahoma City to Tulsa to guarantee the rail line's continued viability.
"I want to save the Heartland Flyer, and the way to do that is to provide an opportunity for it to grow," said Ray Lang, senior director of government affairs for the National Railroad Passenger Association, also known as Amtrak.
The line runs from Oklahoma City to Fort Worth once daily, carrying more than 68,000 passengers each year.
