I WASN'T too enthusiastic about popping into the Slug And Lettuce for lunch.
After all, the name isn't particularly appetising. Slimy mollusc combined with salad leaf - hardly caviare and champagne, is it?
As double-acts go, it's almost as bad as rabbit plus myxomatosis' Lily Allen plus microphone' sun bleached coastal resort plus German tourist.
Or, worst of all, French and... Saunders.
But the Slug And Lettuce brand must be doing something right.
The chain pub is more ubiquitous than bullets in Baghdad.
