California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in late September signed a bill to limit the amount of lead used in potable water systems, despite efforts by metalcasting lobbyists to delay the legislation.
Opponents to the bill said that lowering the amount of lead used in municipal drinking water systems would be cost prohibitive and destructive to industries involved in the manufacture of those systems, particularly metalcasting.
