Dec. 11--STAMFORD -- At one time, Stamford had several kosher delicatessens, bakeries, butcher shops and restaurants, most of them downtown. But they are long gone, and most observant Jews must go outside of Stamford to find what they need. Now a Jewish alliance is looking to change that. An ad hoc committee of the United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien, along with the Stamford Kosher Activists Committee, have posted an online survey to determine the market for kosher food.
