"Saving for a rainy day" is a well-worn phrase but undoubtedly a sensible path to take, especially when considering your retirement planning. There are numerous pension plans available; it is simply a matter of finding the one that works for you--although, given the range of pension products currently being marketed, this is often easier said than done.

An investment trust itself acts as an umbrella, stretching over a range of investments in various companies. So an investment trust pension is an additional umbrella on top of the trust or trusts in which you are invested, holding the funds until you reach retirement age.
