Most observers of the telecoms industry, as well as many participants, consider mobile TV as simply being TV on a mobile phone. Given the widespread acceptance of this viewpoint, most of the current debate around mobile TV focuses on distribution technologies, business models and value chains.

But the reality of mobile TV may be significantly different from current expectations for a number of different reasons.
