Dec. 9--Kenneth Kelley spent $46 for a half tank of gasoline Friday morning.
"I just think that it's another way for the oil companies to get money out of us," Kelley said. "There's no sense in it."
Amarillo's gasoline prices lead other cities in Texas and beat the statewide average by 4 cents per gallon for regular unleaded, though it can be purchased for as little as $2.16 per gallon on the east side of town.
AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report said that Amarillo's average unleaded gasoline price is $2.24 per gallon. It has jumped 10 cents in the last month.
The statewide average is $2.20 per gallon.
