When curator Lauren Weiner married German art-book publisher Benedikt Taschen in 2005, she marked the occasion by enlisting burlesque star Dita Von Teese, complete with oversize champagne glass and bubbles, to perform at their wedding reception. However, the racy show was to be a surprise for her new husband. So during wedding preparations at the Villa d'Este on Lake Como, the wife-to-be found herself hiding Von Teese, feather fans and all, in secret rooms and dark corners. "Yes, Dita was the wedding present," she says, chuckling. "She came with the champagne."
