MANAGING pain has always been a challenge for modern medicine. As well as being invisible, how much pain a person can stand is subjective, making it difficult for doctors to decide the best course of treatment.
However, a new scan could soon prove to be the most effective tool yet in the fight against chronic pain. Not only will the images it produces show exactly which areas of the body are affected, the scan will also be able to measure the amount of pain a person is in.
