Dec. 10--When it rains on the Yorktown aircraft carrier, water flows over the porthole window of Judy Almand, the new executive director of the Patriots Point Foundation.
Near her office -- high on the starboard side -- the water leaches behind decades of caked paint, into the metal skin of the ship and onto the cluttered desk of David Burnette, executive director of the state authority that owns and operates the floating maritime museum.
Burnette is the full-time captain of the Yorktown these days. And Almand was brought onboard to help him right the ship. Paying for a paint job and patches for its leaky flight deck are high ...
