What do you get when you cross an electronic tuner with an electric screwdriver? Gibson's new Robo Roadie. It won't tell you how great you sound, lure girls backstage after the show, or even bring you a cold beer, but like a faithful tech, this device tunes your ax with little input from you. Here's how it works.
Plug your guitar into Robo's input jack and push the on/select button. Robo comes on in its automatic mode, indicated by six sequentially flashing LEDs. Slip Robo's winding head over any one of your tuning pegs, pluck a string, and hold on. Robo quickly analyzes the frequency and begins hunting for the correct pitch by rotating the tuner up and down. When satisfied, Robo emits a beep and its green and amber (flat/sharp) LEDs flash excitedly. …
