It is not clear to this reviewer if such terms as 'Asian archaeology' and 'global archaeology' are meaningful in any sense except that these enable First World archaeologists working outside the First World to form conclaves of their own in the Euro-American academia. Here, we have an assortment of essays which, with three South Asian exceptions, are exclusively from Southeast and East Asia. Then again, is there any unifying theme of the archaeology of Asia?
