Three weeks ago when I wrote about the Pennsylvania Association of Life Underwriters' attempt to form an agents' self-regulatory organization (SRO), I thought it was an idea whose time had come, but I was surprised at from what a small corner of the insurance world it emerged. (See National Underwriter, June 27, page 7.)
Although the Pennsylvania life agents' group is strong, I thought the movement toward self-regulation would be launched from a more national platform, particularly through the National Association of Life Underwriters or the American Society of CLU & ChFC.
