Dec. 15--The public face of Brookhaven's Building Department has had some serious work done. Only seven months after the department's former chief building inspector, Vincent Dragone, pleaded guilty to 58 corruption-related charges amid accusations that he took bribes from some developers and quietly partnered with others, permit applicants now pick up queue numbers, as they would at the Department of Motor Vehicles. They then wait in the grand, high-ceilinged atrium near the main entrance to Town Hall until an electronic voice beckons them forward.
