Dec. 15--TALLAHASSEE -- Florida's high school graduation rate slipped slightly and its dropout rate increased in the 2005-06 academic year, state education officials said Friday. The graduation rate dropped from 71.9 percent to 71 percent, but that's still higher than ratings Florida has received from other entities, which do not count special and General Education Development diplomas as the state does. The latest outside ratings, though, are based on the 2002-03 school year and are part of national studies. Florida ranked 43rd among the states with a 66.7 percent graduation rate, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress report. Education Week ...
