Dec. 16--Before the handcuffs were locked on his wrists, Steven Parker turned around and mouthed to his sobbing wife, "I love you."
Then deputies escorted Parker from a Sarpy County courtroom Friday afternoon, sentenced to 10 to 16 years in prison for sexual assault of a 7-year-old Sarpy County girl -- a crime he denies committing, though 12 jurors ruled otherwise.
Within minutes of his sentencing, his attorneys appealed his conviction, taking aim at the constitutionality of a partition used during his trial to shield the girl from Parker as she testified.
