Dec. 17--SAN RAMON -- The long-awaited -- and hard-fought-for -- bus service linking Dougherty Valley with Bishop Ranch and BART will begin service today.
The County Connection will make several stops at shopping and housing areas along the way, as well as at the new Diablo Valley College campus and the site of the future Dougherty Valley High School.
Buses will operate between 6 a.m. and 7:15 p.m., and, as a bonus, service will be free until Jan. 31.
Service will run only on weekdays, with buses coming approximately every half hour during peak times. Minimum service during off hours will be once every 60 minutes.
