This two-CD project contains 46 pre-war, rural selections dubbed from rare-as-hens-teeth 78s and recently uncovered test pressings that will cause even long-time collectors to sit up and take notice. Genres spanned include hillbilly, blues, seminal bluegrass (Bill Shepherd's high tenor vocal and lonesome fiddle work on "Bound Steel Blues" presages Bill Monroe by over a decade), early country and Gospel along with a dollop of Cajun music.
