The October 14 issue of the British Medical Journal contained a report about a healthy 60-year-old man who found 10 mg (recommended starting dose) of Levitra, the erectile dysfunction drug, to be ineffective. He increased it to 40 mg and three hours later had what is called a tonic-clonic seizure. Two months later, though the man had been told to stop using the drug, he had another seizure four hours after taking 30 mg of Levitra.
The authors of this case report, Pasquale Striano and colleagues at several medical centers in Italy, wrote that the two seizures were "unlikely to be due to another cause." In both instances, the man had been admitted to the hospital and ...
