Keeping an eye on the security forces
IRAQI officials can't win. If they attempt de-Badrification, they are accused of re-Baathification. For much of the past year Iraq's Sunnis have accused the Shia-led government of stacking the security forces with Shia militants--such as the Badr Corps and the Mahdi Army--using the police and ministerial guards as weapons in the country's sectarian warfare. The interior minister, Jawad al-Bolani, has not, they say, done enough to purge officers with ties to Shia militias.
