Sauk County's Law Enforcement Committee has approved a $1 million contract to house 55 Dane County prisoners in surplus beds at the Sauk County Law Enforcement Center.
They're also going to look at the costs and benefits of contracting with the state to house up to 94 inmates from overcrowded prisons in the mothballed A Pod section of the county jail.
Counties that have jail space available often rent space to the state or other counties with crowded jails.
During Tuesday's meeting Sauk County Sheriff Randy Stammen presented a contract to house 55 Dane County prisoners per day in surplus ...
