With two more candidates announcing their plans to seek a seat on the Madison City Council, the number of contested races has risen to six.
The latest entries are Brooks McGrath, who is running against Marsha Rummel to replace outgoing District 6 Ald. Judy Olson; and Gary Poulson, who faces Thuy Pham-Rummele for the seat of outgoing District 20 Ald. Cindy Thomas.
McGrath said today he intends to run against Rummel as an independent candidate. Rummel, like Olson, has long been associated with Progressive Dane, a local, left-wing political party.
