Dec. 19--A Delaware County civil rights lawyer has resigned from the Chester Upland Board of Control after failing to broker a deal to end a lawsuit that has cost the public more than $1 million in legal fees.
Jon Auritt, who joined the board in early November, said he had hoped to persuade other board members to resign and reach a deal with the Rendell administration to end a bid to take control of the troubled district. He failed when the other board members -- Michael F.X. Gillin and Adriene Irving -- refused to resign.
