More than one of every three New Yorkers are concerned that they will lose money in insured financial institutions, according to a survey of consumer attitudes toward the savings and loan crisis conducted by a financial information and consulting company.
But while the New Yorkers' concern about their money's safety exceeds the national average - 35 percent to 28 percent - a greater proportion of New Yorkers - 30 percent to 21 percent - are optimistic about the proposed bailout plan for the nation's savings and loan associations.
