Neither Tim Mayotte or Johan Kriek will return for this summer's eighth annual $205,000 OTB Open Tennis Tournament at Central Park, but the men's field promises to be deeper than ever.
"We have nine guys in the top 100 and that's the most we've ever had," tournament director Nitty Singh said Tuesday.
Last year, No.1 seed Mayotte, ranked 13th in the world, defeated Kriek, winner of more than $2 million on the tour, in the OTB Open final.
"I think everybody expected Mayotte to win last year," Singh said. "This year we have nine or 10 guys who could win it."
