Albany-Colonie pitcher Steve Adkins says he could care less about striking people out. Give him a couple dozen ground-ball outs anyday, he says. After all, in the immortal words of Crash Davis in Bull Durham: "Strikeouts are facist."

Sometimes, however, they are also unavoidable. Especially when the left- hander's knuckle-curveball, changeup and fastball are dancing all over the strike zone.

Adkins, striking out a career-high 14 and allowing just two singles, beat the Reading Phillies 4-0 in an Eastern League game at Heritage Park Tuesday night.
