New York state officials had some good news Wednesday for fishermen.
The Lake Ontario region, which is quickly becoming one of the most popular U.S. fishing spots, will now have even more fish available to anglers.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced that it is decreasing the size of the slot-length limit for lake trout taken from Lake Ontario, the lower Niagara River and the St. Lawrence River.
"That means that people will be able to keep many more fish," said Edward Feldman, a spokesman for the DEC.
