Saratoga County officials learned Wednesday that they do not have to worry about New York City taking water directly from the Great Sacandaga Lake, a potential supply for the county.
State law prohibits the Hudson River-Black River Regulating District from selling water to the city, said Thomas Brewer, chief engineer for the agency that oversees the Sacandaga. And building a new system of tunnels to take the water directly downstate would be too costly for the city, he told the county Water Agency.
