It was just before midnight and a pickup truck was pulled over onto the dirt shoulder of a hilly country backroad, its emergency flashers blinking.
Two men trudged through a driving rainstorm as their flashlight beams slashed like sabers down a muddy embankment.
A car came upon the scene and stopped abruptly. The driver rolled down his window and inquired, "Is everything all right? Anyone hurt?"
"Everything's fine," replied Al Breisch. "We're just out looking for amphibians."
