It is said that Ponce de Leon searched south Florida for years looking for the Fountain of Youth.
Tommy John found it in a couple of months.
The 45-year-old New York Yankees left-hander tuned up for his Opening Day assignment Thursday by frustrating the Baltimore Orioles at Miami Stadium.
The soft-throwing John allowed six hits and two earned runs in seven innings of the exhibition game, and completed the Florida portion of spring training as the Yankees' most- successful starter.
