A 26-year-old city woman was reportedly assaulted and raped near the Schenectady Museum Tuesday
by a man who asked herfor directions and enticed her into his vehicle.
Capt. Joseph Peters, who heads the detective division, said the woman was walking on Nott Terrace near State Street before 2 p.m. when a white male in a small blue car stopped and asked directions to the museum.
The woman said the man claimed that he was unable to understand her directions to the museum, located only two blocks away, and asked her to show him, Peters said. The woman told police she accepted the ride because it would put her closer to her destination.
